My City

My city will have you shitty if you not about rising above self-pity

If you are not above the repercussions of your public discussions

My city will have you laughing at things most would cry about

Cry about what most would laugh about

But the city will prepare you for anywhere you find yourself

No doubt...

We have had a backlash of White Flight

They like...

Take that! with your Black Ass...

Just as fast as we try to remedy the issues from the past

We get a reverse discrimination demonstration

Like the fear of independent slave revolts by Haitians

They use patience

And treat us like patients with no insurance

No endurance because the mills polluted our lungs ever since

Like ever since we had a Black Mayor running it

They been looking for a White Mayor frontin'

And when they finally got one he took the money and

Fucking quit then went to represent

The Casinos

Because he knows = Dead Presidents

Is what it was really about

Not his electorate

Even if you scream and shout

But you should expect that shit

Especially when

He was the dope man's lawyer

Get your son off for a murder if there is no evidence

Played every Negro that swayed anyone to go that way

Like they are just so damn ignorant

Like he loved Black People just because he had a Black...chick

But that don't make no sense

See whitey been sexing sisters forever

That's why the hues between our caramel views exist

The news about my city always be on bullshit

We always get that Murder Cap Rap

Like everywhere on every block is a trap

Like nobody be on they scholastics

We all gon' end up chalked out wrapped in plastic antics

But as you hear my semantics

You can see that that was purposely planted

So it would be easier for you to take us for granted

But we in the G understand this

Your attitude controls your altitude

And the aptitude on most my dudes

Even the ones that dropped out of school

Will probably be greater than you

Because of all of the shit that we done been through

Like Azeez said

Who ain't sold rocks

Who don't raise they kids on Biggie and Pac

Who ain't had a family member shot

Or got someone they know that’s locked off the spot

Maybe never to see the block

Cause they had heat

On the street about some beef

And didn't have the strength to walk away

A moment of patience in a time of confusion

Will save you 100 days of sorrow

You can never outlast your present presence

If you didn't consider how it would affect your tomorrow

5th, 11th, 15th, 21st, 25th,

35th, 4-5, 4-9, then switch

Delaney, Ivanhoe, Do Miller

The Bronx, Tarry Town, Marshalltown

G-P, The Valley, Aetna to anybody killer

It would be "Off the Wall" to tell y'all how

The odds were against me and I "Beat It"

But I "Never Can Say Good Bye" to the GI

The "Lady In My Life" to the "Break of Dawn"

That gives me "Butterflies" since I learned my

"ABCs" "I Can't Help It" see "I Remember the Times"

Before there was "Blood on the Dance Floor"

"Another Part of Me" Got with a "PYT"

That always "Wanna Be Starting Something"

So "Dangerous" It'll "Shake You Body (Down To The Ground)"

"Can You Feel It"

Between 90 and 94

They leave fast and come slow

I'm not an "Educated Fool" and I adore

"Zeros" not a super hero

And if you ask anybody I know

Or that know me

I tell them all the time

Chicago is right next-door

To the G

My City
